Well, I started out by building these items for myself because I
needed them. They must have turned out pretty good, because people
started asking for them. So here they are.
Patchbox
I started to record
most of the dances I went to, but once in a while I found
that there was no patch box, because I was the only one
recording and the club did not provide a patch box. So I
built a small patch box that I could carry around easily. I
had four high level outputs and four low level outputs, all
RCA jacks. Someone suggested I add some 1/8 inch mini phone
jacks, so I added two high level and two low level mini phone
jacks as well. I have two 1/4 inch phone jacks (connected
together) for connecting the box to the speaker output of the
amplifier.
The patch box comes complete with one mono 1/4 inch phone
to 1/4 inch phone cable for connecting the patch box to the
speaker output of the amplifier, and one RCA to stereo 1/8
inch mini phone cable for connecting the patch box to your
tape recorder or laptop computer. At just $25.00 (plus
shipping) it's a steal.

RF Remote Control, USB
The original RF Remote Control
system (below) above workes great, but there is one small
problem. Newer laptop computers don't have a COM port. So I
developed the perfect solution: an RF Remote Control system
that interfaces to your computer using a USB port!
This is similar to the system above. It uses a transmitter
with six pushbuttons. A velcro holder keeps the transmitter
attached to your belt where it is always handy It uses a
receiver that gets its power from the USB port. And it comes
with a CD containing all the software you need. The remote
control software can be used to control any Windows
application. A button on the transmitter can generate any
mouse click, keystroke, etc. to any application.
Of course I include Winamp and my free Wplayer software for
remote controlled playback of the music at your tape group. I
also include all the software you need for recording and
editing your own MP3 files.
This is the newly redesigned second generation USB remote
control. The price has been reduced from $75.00 to only
$65.00! The receiver is now smaller, and the system has been
improved to increase the range and reliability. This is the
system to use if your computer does not have a COM port.

and RfRemote software, click here.
I try my best to keep
this item in stock and ready for immediate shipment. If there
will be any delays I will notify you by email with an
estimated shipping date.

RF Remote Control, COM
port (obsolete)
After I
started running my tape groups using MP3 files played on my
laptop, I realized that it would not be difficult to control
playing of the files by remote control. So I built an RF
(radio frequency) remote control system that lets me
completely run the music player from a small transmitter I
wear on my belt. It is great! I can run the whole tape group
from the square, perfect for when we have exactly eight
people total, and no one extra to run the computer.
The remote control system consists of three components.
There is the transmitter, which is about the size of a pager
and has six pushbuttons for sending commands to the computer.
The thin wire attached to the transmitter is an antenna. I
stick it through my belt loops. I have a loop that goes on my
belt with velcro to hold the transmitter. That way it's
always handy. There is a receiver, which is a small box with
an antenna and a short cable to plug into the COM port of
your computer. The receiver needs no battery. It gets power
from the unused output signals on the COM port. Finally there
is some remote control software. The software recognizes
which button is pressed, and can generate any keystroke,
mouse click, etc. to any Windows application running on the
computer.
It's a simple matter to use the remote control system with
any media player. I provide Wplayer and Winamp for free, and
they work great. I set up the six buttons on the transmitter
for play/pause, zero, rewind, skip back, skip forward, and
tip timer. I also include all the software you need for
recording, editing, etc. At just $60.00 (plus shipping), it
can't be beat.
